Italian Ranking Reveals Albania’s Most Beautiful Beaches from North to South

In recent years, Albania has emerged as one of Europe’s top tourist destinations, boasting stunning landscapes, marvelous beaches, and affordable prices, writes Valentina Todaro in an article published in the Italian daily tag.24. With views stretching from the Mediterranean and bounded by both the Ionian and Adriatic Seas, and above all, its proximity to Italy, Albania has become a valuable choice for future vacations for Italian tourists.

Here are some of the most beautiful beaches across Albania, from North to South:

Northern Marvels:

The beaches in the northern part of Albania, predominantly overlooking the Adriatic Sea, tend to feature sandy shores and crystal-clear waters. This area is perfect for family vacations, boasting not only the sea but also lagoons and natural ecosystems, making it beloved by beachgoers and nature enthusiasts alike.

One of the most renowned beaches in northern Albania is Velipoja Beach, located at the country’s northernmost point, not far from the city of Shkodër. Stretching over approximately 14 kilometers along the Adriatic coast, this beach is characterized by its fine, iodine-rich sand, making it ideal for water sports enthusiasts such as canoeing and kayaking.

Also in the northern region is Shëngjini Beach, another sandy beach suitable for family getaways. With at least 300 sunny days per year and excellent local cuisine, it offers a perfect retreat. North of Shëngjini, facing the hills of Renci, lies the magnificent beach known as “Rana e Hedhun,” featuring well-protected sandy areas from the typical local winds.

For those seeking clean sea and fine sand, the ideal beach is Lalzit Bay in northern Durrës, considered one of the most attractive beaches on the Albanian Adriatic coast. Surrounded by dense pine forests, it’s the perfect spot for seaside relaxation, just 25 kilometers from the capital, Tirana, easily accessible by public transport.

Vlora is also a beach not to be missed, being the second-largest port in the country and one of the main centers of Albanian tourism. The beach is well-equipped and offers many tourist facilities, especially due to its location between Vlora Bay and the port of Orikum.

Southern Charms:

Albania’s Ionian coast is adorned with enchanting landscapes and breathtaking beaches. Here, one can find mountains with sea views, untouched nature, and pristine crystal-clear waters, making it the most tourist-friendly area in the country in recent years.

The first beach to visit in southern Albania is Ksamil, renamed the “Pearl of the Ionian.” This marvelous beach faces the island of Corfu, a few kilometers from the Greek border. From here, it’s easy to reach Saranda, often compared to Rimini in Italy, for evenings filled with entertainment and music.

Karaburun Peninsula is another stunning landscape, offering ever-hidden corners thanks to its numerous coves. Situated near Vlora, it’s renowned for its white sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters.

If you’re on the Ionian coast, don’t miss Porto Palermo, a small peninsula atop a fortress built by Ali Pasha of Tepelena in the 19th century. This beach is perfect for those who love wild and untouched nature.

However, if you’re looking for nightlife and bustling beaches, visit Dhërmi Beach, one of the most famous in the country. Here, you’ll find plenty of locals and tourists drawn to its marvelous blue and pristine waters.

Lastly, there’s Borsh Beach, the longest stretch of coastline on the Albanian Ionian coast. Stretching over 3 kilometers, it’s the ideal place for relaxation, surrounded by a landscape dominated by olive and citrus trees.

For tourists interested in hiking, they can follow the coastal road, while those eager to delve into local culture and history can visit nearby villages, not far from the sea.
